Part 1 of the series covers:
• Principle 1 – Activity should have purpose and capture interest
• Principle 2 – Invite the person to participate
• Principle 3 – Offer choice whenever possible
• Principle 4 – Demonstrate more. Talk less.
Part 2 of the series covers:
• Principle 5 – Physical Skills. Focus on what the person can do.
• Principle 6 – Match your speed to theirs. Slow down!
• Principle 7 – Use visual hints, cues or templates.
• Principle 8 – Give the person something to hold.
Part 3 of the series covers:
• Principle 9 – Go from simple to more complex.
• Principle 10 – Break a task down into steps.
• Principle 11 – There is no right or wrong way to do an activity. Think Engagement.
• Principle 12 – Ask for Feedback. To end, ask: “Did you enjoy doing this?” and “Would you like to do this again?”
